FAQs

Am I paying for the time the DJ is loading in and setting up their gear?

Nope, setup and teardown time are no additional charge, and not included in the performance time you’ve booked.  If you book 3 hours of music, you get 3 hours of music.

How much setup time will my DJ need?

This depends on your venue and how much lighting you’ve added on.  Most events require about an hour of setup time, but if you’ve requested additional lighting or effects, or if there’s a difficult load-in path, we may need extra time.

I have a big screen tv.  Can my karaoke host use it for the lyrics screen?

Our karaoke hosts come prepared with extra-length HDMI cables.  As long as your TV has an HDMI input or is airplay compatible, we can connect to it.  If we can’t connect to your TV, no worries, we also come prepared with our own portable monitor on a stand.

Can I request a song that’s not in your library?

Yes!  If you request a song ahead of time, we’ll make sure to find it before your event, and if there’s Wi-Fi at the event venue, we can download new requests on the fly.

Can you play a karaoke song off of YouTube?

Sorry, no, our hosts don’t use YouTube for karaoke songs.  Firstly, Youtube karaoke tracks aren’t officially licensed, and can’t legally be used for karaoke in public venues.  Secondly, YouTube tracks tend to be lower audio quality, and don’t sound good amplified over a PA system.

Can I see your karaoke catalog?

Sure thing!  We use the Karafun catalogue, which you can view at https://www.karafun.com/karaoke/.  Don’t see your favorite song listed on there?  Let us know ahead of time, and we’ll make sure to find it before your event!

Can you play an event outdoors?

Absolutely!  We do block parties, back yard barbecues, and more!  No extra charge if we’re setting up in a covered area with a power supply.  There is an extra $50.00 charge for a canopy, and an extra $100.00-$200.00 charge for a generator (depending on lighting requested).

The party’s still going strong!  Can’t you stay another hour or two?

Sure, we can do overtime!  As long as the host or DJ doesn’t need to leave for another booking, we can go overtime for our standard hourly rate ($100.00 for karaoke and $125.00 for DJ service).

Why’s the host telling me to stop hitting the microphone?

Tapping/banging on the microphone is bad for it.  Older microphones needed to be tapped occasionally to settle the carbon granules inside.  Modern microphones are made differently, and tapping on them can actually damage some of the fragile components inside.  If you want to test a microphone, the best way is to speak into it.

Do you offer any discounts?

Indeed we do!  We are happy to offer a 50% discount for events that benefit public education, such as fundraisers and school dances.  We also offer discounts to certain non-profit groups and charitable organizations.
